Welcome to the Irish Powerlifting Organization (IPO)

Founded in 2002 by Shane Brodie and Tommy Dillon, the IPO began with a modest group of 23 members who shared a passion for lifting. Our journey started at the CIE club in Limerick, where we held our very first competition.

Steady Growth

Since those early days, the IPO has seen remarkable growth. Year after year, our numbers have risen as more lifters join our community. What began as a small gathering has evolved into a thriving organization that embraces strength, camaraderie, and fair play.

Competitions

International Recognition

The IPO has proudly hosted numerous international events, including the prestigious World Powerlifting Championships and the European Powerlifting Championships. These competitions have drawn over 600 competitors from all corners of the globe, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication within our ranks.

Dedicated Referees

Our team of IPO officials has also expanded. From referees to administrators, we work tirelessly to ensure smooth competitions, uphold our values, and provide an exceptional experience for lifters and spectators alike.
